The Kings County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a stalking incident that may have culminated in a purposeful rear-end accident and a shooting incident as an unsuspecting victim left the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino on March 12 about 1 a.m.
It was during those early-morning hours that deputies investigated an attempted robbery at Highway 41 and Jersey Avenue. The victim told deputies that a Hispanic male adult, 25-30 years old and approximately 5-9 to 5-11 tall, 170 pounds rear ended the victim's vehicle causing a minor traffic accident.
As the victim exited his vehicle to check the damage, the Hispanic male pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his money. The victim refused to hand over any money or personal belongings, and a short scuffle ensued between the suspect and victim.
The victim was able to enter his vehicle and leave the area. As the victim drove away, he fired a single round at the victim's car, striking the vehicle’s tire and wheel. The suspect was seen fleeing the area in a 2016 or 2017 white Nissan Altima (unknown license plate). The suspect's vehicle was last seen driving east on Jersey Avenue from State Route 41.
Video surveillance footage from the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino shows the suspect following the victim around the casino for approximately 30 minutes before the incident. The victim's vehicle was last seen leaving the Tachi Palace parking lot followed by the suspect's vehicle.
